Smelting is a Refining Trade Skill that allows players to process Ore into Ingots that can be used for crafting weapons, tools, and armor. To smelt, players will have to go to a Settlement and use its Smelter. In order to get refined metals for crafting weapons, armor, and more, players will have to refine Ore into Ingots to raise their Smelting Skill Level. Here's what you need to know about it! Iron Ingot Iron Ingot Crafting Requirements Must use a Tier 2 Smelter to craft Iron Ingot Crafting Recipe 4 Iron Ore About Iron Ingots As the most basic metal in the game, players will have an easy time acquiring Iron Ore to make Iron Ingots all over the low-level areas of the map. Silver Ingot Silver Ingot Crafting Requirements Must use a Tier 2 Smelter to craft Silver Ingot Crafting Recipe 4 Silver Ore About Silver Ingots Like Iron Ingots, Silver Ingots are a Tier 2 metal and can be crafted from the somewhat easy-to-find Silver Ore. Steel Ingot Steel Ingot Crafting Requirements Must use a Tier 3 Smelter to craft Must have a Smelting skill level of 50 or higher Steel Ingot Crafting Recipe 4 Iron Ingot 2 Charcoal 1 of any kind of Flux About Steel Ingots This Tier 3 refined metal is the first that will require players to include Flux and Charcoal into the recipe. Flux can be found from looting containers while exploring or converting other secondary refining materials into it using a Material Converter. The Charcoal will be easy to obtain as it can be made at any Tier 2 Smelter from Green-Wood (harvested from the very common Young Trees). Gold Ingots Gold Ingot Crafting Requirements Must use a Tier 3 Smelter to craft Must have a Smelting skill level of 50 or higher Gold Ingot Crafting Recipe 4 Gold Ore 2 Silver Ingot 1 of any kind of Flux About Gold Ingots Gold is also a Tier 3 refined metal and requires Flux but will be more expensive to craft due to the nature of Gold Ore being a bit harder to find than Iron Ore. Starmetal Ingot Starmetal Ingot Crafting Requirements Must use a Tier 3 Smelter to craft Must have a Smelting skill level of 100 or higher Starmetal Ingot Crafting Recipe 4 Starmetal Ore 2 Steel Ingot 2 Charcoal 1 of any kind of Flux About Starmetal Ingots As the components get rarer and rarer, players will have to spend more time searching for resources than by a Smelter to find some Starmetal Ore if getting this Tier 4 metal is one's goal. Platinum Ingot Platinum Ingot Crafting Requirements Must use a Tier 4 Smelter to craft Must have a Smelting skill level of 100 or higher Platinum Ingot Crafting Recipe 4 Platinum Ore 2 Gold Ingot 1 of any kind of Flux About Platinum Ingots This light-colored Tier 4 metal will be needed for some higher-tier crafting recipes, though getting enough to use will take a while as aspiring metalworkers climb the 'material pyramid'. Orichalcum Ingot Orichalcum Ingot Crafting Requirements Must use a Tier 4 Smelter to craft Must have a Smelting skill level of 150 or higher Orichalcum Ingot Crafting Recipe 4 Orichalcum Ore 2 Starmetal Ingot 2 Charcoal 1 of any kind of Flux About Orichalcum Ingots One of two Tier 5 metals, Orichalcum Ingots are near the pinnacle of Smelting, requiring players to have accumulated a lot of levels in this skill before becoming craftable. Keep in mind that players will need many Orichalcum Ingots to obtain the next type of refined metal, the only one classified as "legendary". Asmodeum Asmodeum Crafting Requirements Must use a Tier 4 Smelter to craft Must have a Smelting skill level of 200 or higher Asmodeum Crafting Recipe 4 Orichalcum Ingot 2 Charcoal 1 Tolvium 1 Cinnabar 1 Obsidian Flux About Asmodeum Besides ruining the naming conventions of the metals, this legendary resource stands out for other reasons. It is the only kind of ingot that needs other ingots of the same tier to be crafted. Furthermore, it needs a specific kind of Flux as well as some rarer secondary refining materials. This is another area where a Material Converter would be helpful, as obtaining some of these secondary refining materials solely from exploration can severely delay one's crafting goals. Last, due to how refining works, there will be coins and resource costs when farming Smelting Skill XP. This is everything that you need to know about Smelting. It is time to manufacture this resource and thus continue to enjoy the New World. The New World release date is Sept. 28, 2021. If you need more help with the game, please continue to visit our page.
